waking up and saying hi
Sunday, Aug. 03, 2003 6:36 p.m.
It was caught in time, and it's on the outside of her ovary. She will have it removed in less than two weeks I believe. So, that's good. And now, on to a not so sobering topic. I woke up today like I did any other day, completely disheveled and in dire need of a shower. But little did I know that my mom had used the rest of the hot water before she went to church. Alas, c'est la vie. Once I was out, I managed in my unending grace to step on a piece of paper in the kitchen, and not notice until I reached my room. When I read it, it said in big, uneven, green letters: "JeN cALLed, meLisSa." It's frightening enough to encounter "alternacaps" on the internet, but this was ridiculous. I digress. I dressed myself quickly to call her back, and soon enough, she was over here and we were watching a monster movie on the couch. My sister Melissa kept shuffling back and forth, apparently she had set up a date with her boyfriend as well. Everyone seemed to be capitalizing on the absence of a parental unit today. Jen and I had originally planned to see the new movie American Wedding, but the downpour outside seemed intent on keeping us in. We decided to brave the weather eventually. After all, having to share an umbrella would mean that we'd have to stay extra close to each other. I bet you can visualize the stupid grin on my face right now. Heh heh. We ran into another Northside couple at the theater Chris, and Marina. Chris, better known as Grimey, just graduated. Marina will be a senior this coming year. The movie? Hilarious. It was fab. Seriously. Though I really wasn't expecting it to be bad. Jen fell asleep on my shoulder on the ride home. I've lost count of how many times she's done that, but it never ceases to amaze me that she trusts me enough to do that. Every time she falls asleep on my shoulder, all is right with the world. Nothing is ever wrong, nor will it ever be. All that ever concerns me is the impermanence of the situation and that she'll soon wake up. And when she does, I look into her green eyes, she looks into mine, and I just say hi. There are no other words that can possibly describe the sensation of her waking up in my arms.
I have to go, my nephew Carlos and his cousin Manny are downstairs and I'm being a bad host.
