the vision

Write it down write it down write it down. Must write this down. I stress that this is only an idea, a beginning perhaps. Nevertheless, I must write this down.My mother cleans apartments in a high rise downtown. One of her clients is a Ms. Joo Boe, whose husband, Steven Boe, is a solo violinist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I asked that the next time my mother speaks to them, that perhaps she could ask Mr. Boe if he knows anyone who needs an intern. I don't want any money. I just want to be in their presence, to get a feel for the atmosphere. I'm sure he has to know someone who needs an errand boy. That's just the start of it, though this is still all very tentative. What I plan on doing, is majoring in business. Perhaps at Robert Morris College, where I'm pretty much assured enrollment. I want to open my own music instrument store, or help a small established one to grow. I want to sell affordable instruments. I won't be very encumbered by money from college, because my interviewer told me I can easily get a scholarship. I only want to make enough money to support myself and continue my viola lessons. After a few years, I think I'll take out a student loan to go back to school to major in performance, once I feel confident enough. There's no way in HELL am I going to give up the Chicago Symphony Orchestra! It may take longer than I want it to, but it WILL happen. It doesn't stop there though. Should I actually become a successful performer, and earning enough of an income to support myself through performing, I think I may turn my business into a not-for-profit one. As in, it won't be an asset for me anymore, I won't make money off of it. That way I can get corporate sponsorship and possibly partner up with organizations like the Old Town School of Folk Music or the Merit School of Music in setting up a scholarship for inner-city families who buy or rent instruments from my stores. I want it so that everyone has an opportunity to play. Maybe I could even get government support. I really don't know how I can get this to happen, but it'd be awesome if I could.
