near, and yet so far

I spent my first official day of summer practicing viola for about three hours, and strengthening my nerdliness by expanding my lore of magic knowledge in the Shadowrun universe. What's Shadowrun you ask? Well, think of Dungeons & Dragons, and catapault it into the year 2061. Trolls, elves, dwarves, Orks, and magic, coexist with guns, computers, hackers, helicopters, and rocket launchers. It's an interesting dynamic, and a even bit easier to grasp in some ways, at least to me it is.
Being with Jen over the summer is going to be difficult. She has to worry about her now full-time job at the insurance agency, her neurotic parents, and other friends that demand her attention. I'm going to have to deal with summer school, my neurotic parents, and my obligations to my other friends. What makes this even more excruciating is the fact that she lives only three and a half blocks away. Close physical proximity should be a boon for any relationship, but it only serves to remind her and I of how far apart we actually are.
